PAP prides itself on being at the forefront of evidence informed developments in the athletic performance of motorsport drivers.
The FIA has a firm commitment to creating more opportunities for female drivers and other women in motorsport through initiatives like Girls on Track, FIA Women in Motorsport Commission, and supporting series like the F1 Academy.
We share this vision.
Under FIA regulations, men and women can compete on equal terms in motorsport, and the sport is focused on nurturing talent from grassroots to professional levels and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment for both women drivers and female staff within the sport.
However, physiological needs and demands clearly differ between biological sexes. Despite this, evidence and research has been almost entirely focussed on the male athlete.
Only 6% of sports science research conducted between 2014-2019 focused on women, disadvantaging women in sporting performance and holistic well-being.
It is only relatively recently that the beginnings of dedicated female-centred applied research has taken foot in the women’s game. New research and increased focus on female-specific training, nutrition and recovery strategies are now present in equestrianism, football, rugby and a range of other sports. This beginning to redress a huge historical imbalance.
PAP is committed to supporting equality and diversity in motorsport and, as such has worked with experts in women’s sport to develop specific protocols and practices around the core performance pillars integral to female driver performance.
Our broader service offering has always held true to the belief that performance outcomes need to be supported via a broad range of key pillars. These include:
Whether working with the novice or seasoned female-athlete, there is a specific knowledge-base and a range of considerations that influence and impact both the strategy and delivery for athletic development and performance.
We are proud to be working with incredibly talented, committed female athletes and to have specialists within our team to help ensure that the dedicated support we can offer to women both now and in the future is safe, optimal and based on clear evidence and best practice.
